FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kalamazoo, MI – Today, locally-owned life insurance, employee benefits and investment firm, Rose Street Advisors announced the transition of its founding partner, Erwin “Butch” Doerschler after 53 years. He will remain a principal of the firm and assume the role of CEO Emeritus.
Doerschler’s involvement with the firm began decades before its doors ever opened for the first time. In 1940, Robert Scott, an insurance agent with Connecticut Mutual, sold life insurance policies to a husband and wife that would make an impact on their family still to this day.
In 1948, the unexpected and untimely death of the husband resulted in a claim on the insurance policy purchased only eight years prior. The proceeds from this policy helped his wife raise their son and pay for his college education. The young man, Erwin “Butch” Doerschler, was inspired by his parents’ wisdom in purchasing the life insurance policy and committed his career to the business and perfected his craft under the wings of some of the best in the industry.
Doerschler first joined the Scott Agency after graduating from Western Michigan University and then, in 1987 under the name of Scott, Doerschler, Messner & Gauntlett (SDMG), he and his partners built a talented team focused on planning for the future to impact the lives of others who may end up finding themselves in an unexpected situation. Throughout a series of mergers and buy-outs, they operated within companies like First of America, National City Bank and PNC.
In 2010, Butch purchased National City Insurance Group (Michigan) from PNC and named the new company Rose Street Advisors, keeping the life insurance, employee benefits and the wealth management teams in place to continue serving their loyal clients.
Taking the reins from Doershler and stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer is Principal & Life Insurance Advisor, Robert E. Hunt II. Together with his fellow principals (Carl Doerschler, Erwin “Butch” Doerschler, Terri Harding Lahr, Kevin McPherson, Craig Platt and John Schuemann), Rob will focus on spearheading the vision, drive for growth and, most importantly, the firm’s continued commitment to serving the clients of Rose Street Advisors. He is the fourth person to hold the role of Chief Executive Officer in the history of the firm, joining the ranks of Robert E. Scott, Craig Platt and Butch Doerschler.
In addition to his new role as CEO, Rob continues to work closely with clients to protect their family and business and plan for the future. He partners with other trusted advisors to accomplish his clients’ estate planning, business succession and family/business protection goals through the strategic use of life insurance.
Rob joined the firm in 2010 with ten years of administration and non-profit development experience. He is a member of NAIFA and holds his FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities licenses. In 2014, he earned the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation and also is Licensed Insurance Counselor (LIC).
Active in the greater Kalamazoo community, Rob spends time supporting The Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, Brian M. Schnurstein (ALS) Memorial Foundation and the Susan Mast ALS Foundation. He previously served as a member of Kalamazoo College’s Planned Giving Advisory Board and the Kalamazoo Exit Planning Group. During his free time, Rob is actively involved at his church and enjoys coaching youth sports. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology and environmental science from Kalamazoo College and a master’s degree from Western Michigan University. Rob and his wife Erin have three children.
