My plan for this month was to write a blog on the many benefits of taking vacation time away from work, then I went on vacation and that didn’t happen.  Instead, this blog is focused on our HR friends who are responsible for ensuring I-9 compliance at their organizations.

So what is changing?  On July 17th, the USCIS released a newly revised version of the I-9 form.  This new form, with the aptly named revision date of 7/17/17, must be in use by all employers starting by 9/18/17.

The good news is that you don’t need to change any of the forms you have in place for existing employees and you aren’t in trouble for using the old form yet.  Whether you ask new hires to complete this electronically or on paper, you should start instituting the new form so that the transition is complete by the September deadline.
